Just like the city itself, Amsterdam’s food scene is a melting pot of styles and influences from all over the world. There’s a diverse array of local restaurants, pop-up eateries, food halls… the list goes on.  So we’ve rounded up our favourite places to eat when in the city, let us know if we’ve missed your favourite in the comments!

Top places for Food in Amsterdam

1. Foodhallen – Oud West, Amsterdam

This has been a personal favourite for some time now. I say personal favourite but everyone I’ve ever visited it with or recommended it to LOVE IT as well. It’s hard not to, there’s a vast selection of international food stalls, live DJs every weekend, live music on a Tuesday and it’s pretty budget friendly too..

2. Piadina Bar – Oude Pijp, Amsterdam

This place is cheap, tasty and full of character. Centrally located right next to the Heineken brewery too and close to Albert Cuyp Markt, so perfect for a quick pit stop when exploring the De Pijp neighbourhood of the city.

3. Pasta Bar – Centrum, Amsterdam

Another firm favourite, Pasta Bar. Just across from Amsterdam Centraal Station makes it a perfect and affordable city centre location for food. It’s a simple concept – pick your base (choice of pastas or pizzas) and pick your topping…prices start at just €4.95 for a margarita pizza.

4. Pho 91 – Oude Pijp, Amsterdam (or now open in the West too)

Pho 91 is a popular Vietnamese eatery serving up healthy and delicious Vietnamese food. You can find them at Albert Cuypstraat 91, amidst the vibrant and ever-growing food scene of the Albert Cuypmarkt, and on the Kinkerstraat 106, near the foodie-friendly Ten Katemaarkt.

5. Moeders – Centrum, Amsterdam

I asked a lot of dutchies for recommendations on places to find some typical Dutch cuisine. This is the only place anyone mentioned and it came up time and time again. You can find it on the outer edge of the canal ring where Moeders offers hearty Dutch cuisine in homely surroundings.

6. The Pancake Bakery – Centrum, Amsterdam

A trip to Amsterdam isn’t complete without some pancakes. The Pancake Bakery is super central and it’s been there since 1973😲!

7. Cannibale Royal – Central & Nord Amsterdam

If you’re a meat lover – this is the place for you. The Cannibale Royale restaurants serve lots of meat, exotic beers and beautiful wines. Oh, and they do a good cocktail too! Best to book in advance for this one though…

You’ll find Hangar in North Amsterdam (there’s a free ferry from Centraal Station and definitely a part of the city worth exploring). It offers everything from coffee & cake to dinner & cocktails in an extremely instagrammable setting!

9. Bazar – Oude Pijp, Amsterdam

This Middle Eastern and North African restaurant can be found behind the doors of an old church right on Albert Cuypstraat in De Pijp. A visit to Bazar really is like stepping into a story book – the authentic chandeliers, exotic music and international staff and guests all add to the experience. Not forgetting the awesome food too…
